Nach dem Ätzprozess würde das freiliegende Kupfer auf der Leiterplatte oxidieren und dadurch die Lötbarkeit der Bauteile beeinträchtigen. Aus diesem Grund werden die freiliegenden Kupferflächen in einem der letzten Fertigungsschritte mit einer Endoberfläche beschichtet.
Diese schützt das darunter liegende Kupfer vor Oxidation und verbessert somit die Lagerfähigkeit der Leiterplatte. Darüber hinaus erhöht die Endoberfläche die Benetzbarkeit der Anschlussflächen beim Löten.
Die verfügbaren Endoberflächen unterscheiden sich hinsichtlich ihrer Lagerfähigkeit, typischer Einsatzgebiete und Kosten. Meist wird die Endoberfläche jedoch
durch nachfolgende Verarbeitungsschritte, das Endprodukt oder den geplanten Einsatzort des Endproduktes vorgegeben.

Organisches Konservierungsmittel für die Lötbarkeit (OSP) ist eine kostengünstige und umweltfreundliche Beschichtung auf Kupfer.
OSP is a surface treatment for printed circuit boards that is also known as an anti-tarnish agent.
Beim OSP-PCB-Verfahren wird eine organische Lackschicht mittels eines Adsorptionsverfahrens auf eine saubere Kupferoberfläche aufgebracht. Die Haltbarkeit beträgt ca. 6 Monate.

As a thin metal surface, immersion tin is ideal for processing modern surface-mounted components.
The planarity of the PCB surface is not affected by the thin end surface, the thermal load on the PCB
is very low compared to hot tinning. The copper surface is coated with a protective metallic tin layer.

PCB surface with very good oxidation properties. It is ideal for fine-pitch and bonding applications. Shelf life approx. 12 months.

Chemical silver is a printed circuit board surface that is chemically very similar to tin, but has better properties in oxidation and contact applications.
However, electroless silver is also a sensitive surface and therefore has a low market share. Chemical silver is very suitable for high-frequency applications.
